Intercultural Study Tour to Türkiye

Travel to Timeless Cities & Civilizations

Queensland Intercultural Society (QIS) is a dialogue think-tank and a social activist organization that have been operating since 2007, with an aim to strengthen social bonds and promote multiculturalism through social interaction. Our objective is to establish a better future for the common benefit of humanity and to enhance mutual understanding and respect in this multicultural nation of ours.

As you are aware, QIS works comprehensively to promote diversity and achieve cohesion between cultures. In order to reach its goals, QIS works on many different projects, in partnership with many different organisations.

We would like to invite you to an important project that we have been undertaking since the year 2007 with Queensland Intercultural Society (QIS). This project is the annual intercultural study tours to Turkey. For the past three years, prominent academics, thinkers, community and faith leaders, Federal and State politicians and Local Members have participated in these prestigious tours.

The list of participants is decided through the advice provided by the Executive Advisor of the QIS and endorsed by the QIS Board of Directors. The tours are organised with the sponsorship and logistic support provided by the PASIAD. The QIS would like to invite you to the next scheduled tour as a VIP friend of our organisation.

The study tours are not organised for touristic purposes. They are special projects organised with sponsorship and consists of small groups of 10-15 participants. Under normal circumstances, the cost of such tours is $7,000 to $8,000. However, with the early-bird booking (before the 30th of August 2014) the cost of the tour is $4,500. Otherwise, after that date bookings will cost $5,250. Study Tours are a group project in which tickets and accommodation are organised in groups. The accommodation is 4-5 star hotels with twin share and airline tickets are economy class.

Breakfasts and dinners are included with additional dinner organisations at various institutions and private homes of businessmen, community leaders and local families. These dinner organisations are planned with the aim to understand the culture in a grassroots level and to share information. The tour participants are encouraged to attend these extremely important dinner invitations.

The study tour aims to provide extensive information about a country that has 99% Muslim population. Turkey is the only Muslim nation that has a secular democratic system with a rich culture and warm hospital people. Its geographic structure enables it to become a bridge between two continents and different cultures. It is a country that has embraced 6 great civilizations throughout history. Anatolia, dubbed as the cradle of civilizations, has a rich ethnicity enriched by historical civilizations such as the Roman Empire, Byzantium and the antique era. You are invited to observe the remains of these civilizations and gather firsthand knowledge about their life styles.

Additionally, you will be participating in the Anzac Day Commemorations as part of the protocol endorsed by Turkish and Australian officials. You will also be driven to the location in officials vehicles with Turkish and Australian government officials.

During the 12 days of close interaction, the participants from Queensland will also get the opportunity to establish a network with the other professional participants who have important positions at government and non-government organizations.

Moreover, the tour is designed to allow close interactions with prominent academics, journalists, leaders of different religions, university chancellors and community leaders in Turkey through visits to different organizations, private colleges and universities. These visits create a medium where the richness of the Australian multicultural culture could be conveyed and detailed information regarding the organizations of the participants can be passed on.

Once the number of group participants are confirmed, the airline tickets will be organised for departure from Brisbane, scheduled for the 7th October 2014 with a return date from Istanbul for the 22nd October 2014. We will be honored by your participation that will strengthen our bonds of friendship.

Attached is detailed information about the tour, the program information kit of the trip and an application form. For further information, please do not hesitate to call our Executive Director, Abdul Celil Gelim on (07) 3711 9821 / 0411 553 838 or  info@qis.org.au
