Although officially established in 2008, the founders of QIS had started preparing various activities to promote intercultural and interfaith tolerance; one of them where the acclaimed Sufi musician Ahmet Ozhan and his ensemble was brought from Turkey to showcase the Sufi music and Sufi philosphy in Brisbane.

The QIS believes that Australian diverse cultural and pluralistic democratic society would be enriched with social interaction and educational awareness projects like this.
